Ethics versus Profits

A friend approached me today and asked for my advice regarding an MLM. He suspected that it is a scam, and if its not a scam, that it would lure a lot of people who do not know anything about doing business. The issue he has to contend with was this MLM company is still building its upline. This means that if he can get early in the game, he has a potentially HUGE amount of income. His worry is that in the near future, even if the wealth was ‘ill gotten’, the friend who has offered him the opportunity would go back to him and say “I told you so!”.

His principles say that what they are doing is wrong. The promoter doesn’t even know the products! But his brain tells him that this is a potentially greatly profitable deal, and he would feel bad if he passes it up.

Would you abandon principles for profit in this case?
